CHILD SUPPORT: Massachusetts

Divorce Lawyer
Every child has a right to receive financial support from both parents, not just the custodial parent. Child Support is money paid from a noncustodial parent to the custodial parent to help pay for the needs of the child such as housing, health insurance and medical costs, childcare, education, food, and clothing. A child support court order is a legal obligation. If the noncustodial parent fails to comply with a child support order, they can be found in contempt and ordered to pay a fine and /or put in jail.

The amount of child support a noncustodial parent is ordered to pay is strictly based on the Massachusetts Child Support Guidelines. Click the link below to access the guideline calculator.
